Making Memories

So, the Friday night before Christmas, Matt was in Arkansas, so I called Kasi to see if her and the kids wanted to go see Santa and to the Galaxy of Lights. We went to see Santa, ate at Chick-fil-A, went to the Galaxy of Lights and Krispy Kreme! We had a FULL night but LOTS of fun (for the kids anyway...ha). It was a lot of work for us, but I have to remind myself, we are making memories :)

Sawyer and me at Galaxy of Lights...he thought everything was soooo "tool"!

Sutton wasn't happy about sitting on Santa's lap....Sawyer doesn't look thrilled either.

There is a story behind these pictures: The woman in front of us was taking pictures like crazy, with no regard as to the sign that CLEARLY stated NO PERSONAL PHOTOS. When it was our turn, I let the photographer know that we didn't appreciate him allowing her to take pictures while the rest of us tried to be respectful and obied by the rules. He told me that as long as I wasn't on the red carpet, that I could take pictures with my personal camera. I might add, however, that the woman was on the red carpet the whole time!! Oh well, at least I got a couple of shots.

Happy Days Christmas Party

Let me just start out by saying, Thursday was a C.R.A.Z.Y.!! It was like a "how many things can I fit into one day" kind of day! It was a bit hectic getting out the door that morning, making sure I had all the gifts, etc., getting a call that they had sent my PawPaw to the hospital and then scrambling around trying to find a last-minute babysitter for the kids that afternoon, didn't start things off on the "right" foot. But alas, we made it to the party! Everything was going FAIRLY smoothly, until I go to fix Sutton a bottle to find I left it at home (in another bag I might add). Thankfully, I had some baby food to hold him over.

Back to the party. The kids had a great time; however, I was told by another mom (Kristin), that it was a little too long...lol! We baked and decorated cookies, visited Santa, made an ornament, opened gifts, played musical chairs and ate!

I won't go into all the other crazy details of my day....but, it all got done and I was able to meet all of my obligations and work in a dentist appointment!
It's hard to believe that it's already December and we are out on Christmas break. So, at 3 1/2, Sawyer recognizes ALL his shapes, colors, recognizes most numbers 1-10 and can count (almost) to 20 and recites ABC's (although we need to work on recognizing some letters). He can also spell and recognize his name. After Christmas, they will start working on writing their names.
It's been a great year so far and can't wait to see what the next half holds!

PHC 2010 Christmas Program

Last Wednesday, December 8, was our annual, church Christmas program. A lot of time and effort went into it, and it showed. Our directors and youth did a GREAT job.

As you will see from the pictures, they did a version of "The Grinch".

All of the Whos....their costumes were so cute!

Nativity Scene (Sawyer is in the blue. He was a Shepard boy.)

Cindy Lou-Who...she was the cutest thing.

The "Grinch". He did an awesome job!!
So now, Sawyer has been singing "you da mean one, mr. rinch, you da mean one, mr. rinch....Maaaaax!!"

Cute Pic of the Boys

(12/3/10)

Thanksgiving 2010 - continued

On Wednesday, we left out for Mount Pleasant, South Carolina to spend Thanksgiving with my dad's family. It's about a 9 hour drive, but the boys did GREAT! We had a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner and enjoyed a relaxing day at "home". Friday, I shopped, while Matt took Sawyer to the Beach, and later that evening we watched the game. Saturday, we did a little more shopping and went to downtown Charleston, came home, had dinner and headed back home on Sunday! We had a great trip, and both the boys did so good. They napped good and slept good at night, which makes for a happy mom and dad!

Sawyer also got his Jesse he has been asking for and Toy Story 3, which I think he has watched almost everyday, multiple times a day since :)

Thanksgiving 2010

Our "Thanksgiving" began Saturday night with dinner at Grandma Dot's. We ate and got to visit with family that we don't get to see very often.

On Sunday we had dinner at my mom's house with ALL of her family. We have ALWAYS had dinner at my Grandma and PawPaw's, but this year, we had a change of plans. We had a great time visiting with our BIG and CRAZY family! Sawyer loves ALL his cousins and they play so well together, therefore, the parents get to relax and enjoy themselves as well!
Tuesday we had a Thanksgiving Feast at school. Sawyer was an Indian (a/k/a Sitting Bull). Their costumes were too cute!

Show Us your Life - Playrooms

This is "Show us your life - Playrooms" week on Kelly's Korner. I decided to link up, because I am really proud how our playroom turned out. It was originally the dining room, but we decided we would get more use out of it as a playroom. I got in touch with a local artist and she and I came up with a great plan! I wanted something that looked nice but was also practical. I also wanted something that would "grow" with my kids. At the time we did this, I was pregnant with my second child and didn't know whether boy/girl, so I needed something neutral as well.

This is the entrance. There were no french doors originally. Those were added when we decided to do the makeover.

The blue shelf I found at a yard sale. All it needed was a coat of paint. It has been a great use of storage.

We (the artist and I) came up with this cute idea to paint the trey ceiling as if it was chalkboard with the alphabet.

I had a local woman in our area sew these window treatments. When I saw the fabric, I knew they would go perfect in the room.

This is an idea I got from a Pottery Barn Kids magazine.

Media Center

Art Center - I also got this table and chairs at a yard sale....coat of paint and ta-da!

Apple Tree - this is also an idea I got from a PBK's magazine.

Clothes Line - idea from PBK mag. AGAIN..lol! I needed a way to display all of my son's artwork he brings home from school, and I thought this would be a cute idea to hang rope from each tree like a "clothes line".

Hope you enjoyed the tour of our playroom as much as I did creating it!

I survived another photo shoot

and I was by myself this time, I might add! Matt was working and both sets of grandparents were tied up. So, that left the boys and me and our VERY patient photographer, Mary! We did Sutton's 6 month pictures (although he is actually 7 1/2 months) and did some shots of the boys together for Christmas cards.

Here's a sneak peek :)
