Daddy's Boy

Matt took off work yesterday, and since he was off, decided that he would get Sawyer out of the house so I could actually get something accomplished around here. He decided that he would take Sawyer out on the "fishing boat" as Sawyer calls it. On the way there, they made a stop at "McDonald's House" (a/k/a McDonald's)....i don't know why Sawyer calls it that. Matt successfully got him out of there without a HUGE meltdown (see, i told you he was a good dad). Sawyer had a great time on the water and a good nap as well. He did a little fishing but didn't catch anything. Matt said that the water was really rough but Sawyer wasn't scared at all. As a matter-of-fact, Sawyer said "that be fun" when they were hitting the waves!! Needless-to-say, Sawyer is becoming a daddy's boy. The other day I ask him if he was momma's baby and he said "no, I daddy's boy".....uh, sorry son.....but you will ALWAYS be MY baby!!

Another milestone

So today, Sutton laughed out loud! It was truly the sweetest sound. He is the sweetest, most precious baby, but I'm not biased at all :)

On another note, Wednesday, I took Sutton to the doctor because he had congestion and a bad cough for a couple of days. As I suspected, it was just an upper respiratory virus (basically a cold) and there was nothing we could do except let it run it's course. He is usually a very content baby and demands little, but since he has been sick, i have held him until i am sore. Each day after Wednesday though, he has gotten better and better. Today, I can tell a HUGE improvement and it seems that he is back to his happy, little self. Unfortunately, Sawyer has it now, but it's not nearly as rough on him as it was Sutton.

Can I also just say that today has been one of those days :/ One of those days that I look back to life before kids and think how easy it was. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't trade motherhood for the world, but there are times that i miss the "pre-children" life. I think I'm just a little worn out and need to recharge. A day of sleeping in, shopping, eating and maybe watching a good movie (nothing animated) sounds really nice right about now (sigh).....

Happy 3rd Birthday Sawyer

We decided this year we would take Sawyer to the zoo, since he has never been, and have a small party at the house on Tuesday night. He loved the zoo, as we knew he would. He loved all the animals, especially the elephants, giraffes and zebras. He also loved the carousel, jungle gym, sprinklers and fish exhibits (it looks like we also need to make a trip to the aquarium). It was a good day, hot, but good, with only one MAJOR meltdown at "toy" stand beside the giraffes. We managed to get out of there with ONLY 2 stuffed animals, one being for Sutton (i'm sorry, but am i the only one who thinks that stuffed animals are the most useless toy?!?)!

Tuesday was his actual birthday and was also a "school" day. I made cookies and sent juice boxes to school. After school, we went to Granna's to take a nap and once she got home, I left to go back to the house to set up for the party. It was too hot to be outside, so I set up his party in the playroom. It was simple, just cake and ice-cream, but all the kids seemed to have a good time, Sawyer especially!! He loved that it was all about him. He loved all his gifts, but the "hit" of the night was Buzz Lightyear. So, now my "baby" is 3! Sometimes, matt corrects me when i call him a baby, but i don't care how old he gets, he will always be my "baby". Sawyer - "I'll love you forever, i'll like you for always, as long as I'm living, my baby you'll be."

Happy Father's Day!!

Well, we started out the morning by giving Matt his father's day gift, which he loved. That's a picture of it above (hankerchief w/ Sawyer's handprint on it). Then, we headed over to Sara and Ryan's for breakfast w/ Rick (we did father's day with my dad the night before).
Boys, you are so blessed to have a father like your dad! He loves you boys more than life itself! Your dad is one of those men that was truely born to be a dad. He gives you hugs and kisses and tells you he loves you everyday. He is so patient with you Sawyer, especially. He takes you outside almost everyday, and even though he doesn't get anything accomplished, he just has a good time with you "knocking his tracks out". He is so excited to have two boys to raise and looks forward to all the fun, exciting times ahead!!
On this day, i'm also proud of the dad that i have. He always worked hard to give us a good life. We always had ALL of our needs and MOST of our wants. I had a wonderful childhood full of great memories!!
Happy Father's Day!!

Where has the time gown?!?!

Sutton is growing TOO fast!! We went on Tuesday for a check-up and shots. He received a great report from the doctor. He weighs 14lbs. 1oz. (75th percentile) and 23 1/4" long (45th percentile). He is on track to be a big boy just like his brother!! I'm so thankful he is healthy and doing everything he is suppose to be doing at this point. He is sleeping through the night on a fairly, regular basis now....what a RELIEF!! So, all in all, Sutton is pretty perfect in every way (that is until he starts talking and walking...lol)!
Sawyer is doing great too!! He is a great big brother and doesn't show any jealousy towards the baby. It's amazing how patient he is when it comes to me taking care of the baby. Any other time, not so much, but when it comes to Sutton, he understands that his needs are important too, and sometimes he just has to wait. Right now, Sawyer's movies of choice are Toy Story and Toy Story 2. His new favorite saying is "to infinity and beyond". Sawyer is turning 3 on Tuesday (still can't believe it). We are so excited about his birthday this year b/c this is the first year he really understands what is going on. He has asked for a red bicycle and a woody present, so that's exactly what he is getting!! Monday we are taking him to the zoo and he is so excited about that and on tuesday we are having a party for him at the house.

Congratulations Courtney and Jared!!

Saturday, May 29, my baby sister got married. let me back up first. thursday, mama bug and larry came in from south carolina. this was also their first time seeing sutton, so thursday night we just hung out at the house. Friday night was rehearsal and Saturday was the wedding! It was beautiful. I wish i had pics, but i was kind of busy!! Once the photographer puts them on his website, i'll try and put the link on here so you can go view if you would like. We took pics before the wedding at Rocky Childers' home, which is beautiful! Sunday we went back over to mom and dad's to visit w/ all of our family that came in for the wedding (Taylor and Angie & family, BJ and Tommy, Mark and Katherine, Mama Bug and Larry)!! We don't get to see this side of the family much, sadly, but when we do, it is great! That night we went out to eat at Logans and Mark told his crazy stories!! Monday we cooked out at the house and let sawyer and graysen play in the rain.....they had so much fun!!

Anyways, back to Courtney getting married.....i'm kind of sad in a way, but happy for her! I know this will be an adjustment for her, as it was for me and everyone else who gets married, but i'm sure she'll do great! i've only been married 7 years myself, but if i have any advice to give, it would be to be patient, cherish the great times and learn from the bad times!! Congratulations Courtney and Jared....wishing you a wonderful, happy life together!
